Day 1: Arrival and Exploration of Shillong

• Morning:
  • Arrive at Guwahati (Guwahati Airport/Guwahati Railway Station).
  • Drive to Shillong (approx. 3 hours from Guwahati Airport/Guwahati Railway Station).
  • Check-in at your hotel and freshen up (Shillong).
• Afternoon:
  • Visit Umiam Lake, a serene man-made lake surrounded by lush green hills. You can enjoy boating or just relax by the lake.
  • Visit Elephant Falls.
  • Explore Ward’s Lake, a charming lake in the heart of Shillong, and the nearby Lady Hydari Park.
• Evening:
  • Walk through Police Bazaar, the main market of Shillong, to shop for souvenirs, handicrafts, and local snacks.
  • Overnight stay in Shillong.

Day 2: Shillong to Cherrapunji

• Morning:
  • After breakfast, drive to Cherrapunji (approx. 2 hours), known for being one of the wettest places on Earth.
  • En route, stop at Mawkdok Dympep Valley Viewpoint for stunning panoramic views.
• Afternoon:
  • Visit Nohkalikai Falls, India’s tallest plunge waterfall, and enjoy the breathtaking scenery.
  • Explore the Mawsmai Caves, a network of well-lit limestone caves.
  • Visit Seven Sisters Falls, another iconic viewpoint in Cherrapunji.
• Evening:
  • Check into your hotel or homestay in Cherrapunji.
  • Optional: Enjoy the tranquility of the area or a short evening walk.
  • Overnight stay in Cherrapunji.

Day 3: Living Root Bridges / Mawlynnong Village

• Morning: (Option 1)
  • Drive to Tyrna Village to begin the trek to the famous Double Decker Living Root Bridge in Nongriat (3-4 hours round trip; moderate difficulty).
  • Experience the unique beauty of this natural wonder.
• Morning: (Option 2)
  • Visit Wei Sawdong Falls.
  • Then proceed to Mawlynnong Village (approx. 2 hours from Cherrapunji), Asia’s cleanest village.
  • Explore the village, treehouse viewpoints, and the Balancing Rock.
  • Visit the Sky Walk, a bamboo structure offering panoramic views of Bangladesh plains.
• Evening:
  • Drive back to Shillong (approx. 3 hours).
  • Overnight stay in Shillong.

Day 4: Shillong to Dawki

• Morning:
  • Early drive to Dawki (approx. 2 hours), known for its crystal-clear Umngot River. Enjoy a boat ride and admire the scenic beauty.
  • Visit the India-Bangladesh border near Dawki for a unique experience.
• Afternoon:
  • Stop at Laitlum Canyon en route back to Shillong. It’s a peaceful viewpoint with incredible vistas.
  • Return to Shillong, overnight stay at hotel.

Day 5: Shillong to Guwahati, Departure

• Morning:
  • Early drive to Guwahati and transfer to Guwahati Airport / Guwahati Railway Station.
  • If we get enough time, visit Kamakhya Temple.

Tips for the Trip

• Pack comfortable walking shoes, rain gear (as Meghalaya has unpredictable rain), and warm clothing.
• Carry cash, as remote areas may have limited ATM facilities.
